LS/FF 2012 LONDON PREMIERE

EL MAR MI ALMA, Dir: Stephen Jones, AUS, 2011, 55 mins

Shot on 16mm by renowned cinematographer Dave Homcy and featuring the cutting edge surfing talents of Dave Rastovitch, Ramon Navarro, Joel Parkinson and Chris Del Moro this is a beautiful ode to Chile, its people, and the ocean that defines it – the sea occupies a mystical, conscious and unconcious place within the cultural fabric of the nation. The film is a visual tone poem, a blend of images and music, stunning waves, cinematic surfing sequences, coastal landscapes and insightful commentary. With an authentic soundtrack that transports you to the cold, empty points of South America and laced with the poetry of Pablo Neruda, the film paints a picture of Chile’s beauty and association with the sea, centred around the intimate act of surfing.
